About KWC Rehab
Our Story
KWC Rehab was started 11 years ago by someone who spent seven years in active addiction before finding lasting recovery. After getting sober, our founder looked back at every program that had failed them and asked a simple question: what would the treatment center I actually needed have looked like? The answer became KWC Rehab.
The first priority was location. East Los Angeles and its surrounding neighborhoods had few options for evidence-based addiction care, forcing residents to travel long distances or settle for under-resourced programs. Our founder opened this facility on Duncan Avenue specifically to close that gap. Today, our 67-bed center employs 120 clinical professionals and has served over 6,600 patients — most of them from the communities right around us.
Our Mission
KWC Rehab operates at the intersection of prevention and treatment. Our mission is to reduce the burden of addiction in East Los Angeles by providing accessible, neuroscience-informed care and by educating the wider community before substance use disorders take hold. We believe that early intervention, harm reduction, and rigorous clinical treatment are not competing strategies — they are parts of the same continuum.
We measure success not only by sobriety rates but by whether our neighbors can access high-quality care without leaving their community. Every program, outreach event, and clinical protocol we design serves that standard.
Treatment Philosophy
Our clinical model rests on three pillars that reflect current addiction science:
Neuroscience-Based Care. Addiction alters specific neural circuits involved in reward, stress, and executive function. Our assessments map these disruptions for each patient, and our treatment plans — including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and medication-assisted protocols — are designed to restore healthy brain function over time.
Harm Reduction Continuum. Not every patient arrives ready for complete abstinence, and we do not require it as a precondition for care. We work with patients to reduce risk at every stage, building momentum toward sustained sobriety through incremental, measurable goals rather than all-or-nothing expectations.
Trauma-Informed Approach. A large proportion of our patients carry unresolved trauma — from childhood adversity, military service, first-responder work, or community violence. Every interaction at KWC Rehab, from intake to discharge, is structured to avoid re-traumatization and to actively support psychological safety.
